Flight B -- Give Me A Brake!
Flight B began their second test today called "Give Me A Brake!" This test was named that way because it had a walk-up (---walk-down!!) flyer where as the handler went to line down a steep bank, needing to put on their brakes so they could stop and see the flyer as it was shot out into the pond. After the Test Dog ran, the Judges decided that this entrance was rather dangerous and could be difficult for some, so they changed it to a walk-up parallel to the shore. This test consisted of a walk-up flyer shot into the pond and two additional birds shot on land. If these birds are successfully picked up in any order, the handler is invited to run both a land and water blind.
The test was located around a picturesque pond. The long bird was on the far side of the pond in front of the line, slightly to the right, thrown to the left. The third bird down was on the left shore directly in front of the line thrown to the right, on land. The land blind was at the corner of the pond, between the two marks. Its location was marked by a bunch of pink plastic flowers. The water blind came with instructions. The dogs were to get into the water, swim toward the backside of the far gunner between a point and small island. They were instructed that the line to the blind was in the water.
